![]() By Lori Lines Chakras are rotating, cone shaped rays of energy, most of them centered along the body's vertical axis. Though non-material, they can be felt either pulsing and pumping, or knotting and aching. They govern the physical functioning of your body, which is itself a configuration of swirling bits of highly energized matter. You mold and re-mold this matter into your self-image, based on your belief system of how you ought to appear. You create your own image, combining your self-perceptions with the information that other people feed you about yourself. Your chakras affect this process and are affected by it. There are seven principle chakras (also called energy centers) focused at least partly within the physical body. In addition, there are important chakras in the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. The chakra system is so complex that I am unable to cover the entire subject of chakras but this article is intended to educate on their meanings and, in subsequent posts, I will cover more. The first chakra, also referred to as the root chakra or kundalini center, is the only major chakra whose larger opening is to the rear, just below the tailbone and above the anus. There is a smaller opening in front, at the base of the pubic bone. This chakra has to do with the ability to survive, your capacity to have and hold, and your power to attract the abundance of the material realm into your life. When it's functioning properly you feel well, have great vitality, are comfortably grounded in your body, and are affectionate with the people close to you. If your physical self is chronically beset with aches and pains, if you don't get enough to eat, if your bills keep mounting with no way to pay them, if you're over-impulsive or always a little bit off center, if you are liable to fits of cruelty or self-centered lust, if you experience anxiety, fears, or nightmares, then you're suffering from typical problems that originate with (and reflect upon) an impeded first chakra. Other first chakra imbalances can include problems with the colon, with the bladder, with elimination, or with lower back, leg or feet issues. In men, prostate problems may occur. In women, issues surrounding reproductive organs can arise. Eating disorders may also be a sign of a root chakra imbalance. Even if you have an external or impersonal affliction such as an excessive bill that comes to you as a surprise can be an indication that your first chakra is impeded or has been somehow obstructed. When your first Chakra is open, even if you have, for example, a high bill to pay, you will receive some kind of windfall or a timely pay raise or bonus that will balance out the added burden. Materialistic greed represents a first chakra that takes everything in but shares nothing and lets nothing go. Addiction to wealth coordinates with material envy which is a reflection of the darkest values of our culture. Someone with a balanced first chakra is materially confident and therefore, generous. Although the first chakra has to do with survival, it also interrelates with your self-image or with the image that you consistently fail to live up to. Family scripts, traditional life attitudes, and other deep-seated beliefs and cues are implanted in our consciousness by way of the first chakra. Also, any dogma is an attack on the first chakra. Dogmatic preachers, parents and presiding authorities can get to your first chakra and send it wobbling and out of balance. This can even lead you toward surrendering your own self-governance. Some of the ways you can help feel more balanced in your first chakra is to use Essential Oils on your own before you go see an energetic healer. I recommend doing whatever you can to self-heal first before employing an energetic healer. To help support and balance your first chakra, I recommend you use either of these single oils: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Ginger or Cypress. Oil Blends would include any of the following: Valor, Grounding, and Abundance. For Root Chakra purposes, I recommend you apply one drop of any of these oils to the bottom of your feet and on your spine twice a day. It is recommended you use your essential oils topically with a carrier oil in case your skin is sensitive. To purchase the above product(s) you may click here and decide if you want to be a retail customer or to take advantage of the wholesale prices. In my opinion and intuitive experience, these oils are of the highest vibrational frequency available on the planet. *Always consult a qualified medical professional before using any natural product and seek the advice of your physician with any questions you may have regarding any medical condition.
