By Lori Lines A mixture of essential oils can provide therapy whether it is burned or diffused. It will be burned by using incense and diffused by way of a variety of methods, popularly known as aromatherapy. Here we will discuss the difference between the two ways and how it can be beneficial for your body. We will also discuss what will be the most appropriate type of aromatherapy in accordance to your desired ways for healing to take place. First of all, what is incense? Incense has been used and burned for thousands of years by different cultures all around the world. It is mainly coming from a mixture of aromatic plants, herbs and some essential oils extracted from those herbs. With the discharge of the aroma or its smell, when being burned, it is believed to have therapeutic claims. On the other hand, diffusing essential oils by several methods (which will be discussed later) emits a certain aroma has healing effects. There are several methods of essential oil diffusion and they are as follows:
The critical difference between diffusing essential oils and burning incense is that burning incense emits smoke, which is similar to tobacco smoke or a wood smoke, a proven carcinogen. According to several researchers, the smoke that was emitted from burning incense contains air pollutants such as Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Oxides and some Volatile Organic Compounds. Though it is a fact that burning incense produces smoke that contains harmful air pollutants, it is not yet proven whether consistent inhaling smoke from burning incense can affect bodies rather than heal them. Some suggest that incense should be burned in a well ventilated room and should not be inhaled excessively. On the other hand, diffusing essential oils back in the days are similar to burning incense as the essential oils used to be diffused by way of potpourri or the candle method (by introducing fire to the essential oils, which also emits smoke). Nowadays, as mentioned above, Ultrasonic Diffusers and Air Diffusers have eliminated the emission of smoke, thus creating a difference between the two types of aromatherapy. In terms of the choice of aromatherapy method between burning Incense and diffusing essential oils, some factors and differences vary from each user. It means that it will still depend on the way you want them to be. Burning incense, apart from producing smoke while in operation, should be used on some special circumstances (such as using them on a well ventilated room) and apart from it, it is potentially using up the essential oils during the burning process. This could mean that the therapeutic process is not actually efficient. This is in contrast with the modern diffusing method (Ultrasonic and Air), wherein it is not wasting the essential oils while in operation rather it is fairly suspended in the air creating a more effective therapy method. If the main aim of the use of these essential oils is to deodorize the room through its emission of pleasant odors, then by all means, please use incense sticks and burn them (even diffuse the essential oils use by introducing fire also known as the candle method). But if you do want to use these essential oils as a deodorizer as well as for therapy, then the better method to use is the modern diffusion of essential oils. It is advised to use essential oils, when using a diffuser, only 20 minutes per hour and no more. In my opinion, I like the diffusing method provided by Young Living because their diffusers are of high quality and in different price ranges. To me, diffusing essential oils is a cleaner way to go rather than inhaling smoke. Check them out here and see if any of them will work for you. By Lori Lines The seventh chakra, the crown chakra, is centered at the widest spot of the fontanelle that you had as a baby. Associated with the pituitary gland, the seventh is your instrument of direct communication with the Divine. This communication stimulates your evolution toward at-one-ment is mostly temporary. However, it grows more and more lasting as your seventh chakra becomes open, clear and active. Your consciousness becomes such that you comprehend the variety and complexity as well as the connectedness of all things. You are in wakeful contact with each plane of your existence, and have the integrity and courage to deeply examine each of your inner worlds. Your personality is also very strong, yet gentle. You're able to manage earthly elements and to flow with forces beyond our earth, yet you do so with ample kindness for humanity. Meanwhile you maintain a rather detached perspective on yourself and your many little ways. At the time of your death you remain totally aware, knowing that you are dying and going ahead with it anyhow. The evolved consciousness of an open crown chakra, together with good function and balance in the other major centers, may be called self-realization. Self-realization does not come about unless all the chakras are equally active. One may have a wide-open seventh, but rarely will one be able to take responsibility for mundane tasks. There are others who may be creative geniuses, whose seventh, sixth, and fifth are their only fully functional chakras and who consequently require someone else to look after them and care for their earthly needs. Kind of likened to the "absent minded professor." When the seventh chakra is closed up, you create or perpetuate a condition of limited growth. In some cultures, men and women alike wear head coverings that tend to restrict seventh-chakra activity and curtail personal unfolding. To keep on living a limited life is the most severe form of inner dishonesty and delusion. For many people the only experience of access to the Source occurs at the moment of death. A closed seventh leads both to a fear of dying and a fear of enjoying life. The delusion takes hold that if you really enjoy life, you're bound to lose it. So you cling to the closed attitude that "life is suffering, and then you die." This delusion can be likened to someone with a victim mentality. Few of us are clear in the seventh chakra. For some of us, it's enough merely to be aware of the fact that we have a seventh chakra. To take the first steps toward opening and using the seventh calls for great courage and dedication, because there's no turning back. Once you begin the process, you'll never again be content with devoting yourself to conventional, mundane goals for their own sake. No degree of wealth or status or worldly achievement will give you a sense of fulfillment, unless you can manage this while realizing your seventh-chakra perceptions and priorities. It's far preferable to open the seventh very gradually, by the natural means of meditation, prayer, essential oils, and the use of crystals. As you do so, meanness and selfish ambition melts away. You'll find it increasingly difficult to act "unconsciously" or "with diminished capacity," above all toward another person. This doesn't mean that you refrain from anger and other strong emotions. It means you are able to use anger appropriately and constructively as a tool for self-defense or for sparking another person's higher self. When you start living your life according to seventh-chakra consciousness, you enter into the realm of unconditional love - within yourself and with other sentient beings. Unconditional love is the greatest power in the Universe. It burns negative karma and can enable you to do ten years' worth of growing in a fraction of that time. For opening and balancing the crown chakra, the most recommended single oils include: . Oil blends include: Frankincense, Myrrh, Jasmine, and Lavender. Oil Blends that are highly recommended are 3 Wise Men, Gathering, Inspiration. Apply one drop with one drop carrier oil on the top of the head. By Lori Lines Young Living Essential Oils is about health and how essential oils like Basil, Geranium, Eucalyptus and other Aromatherapy Oils sooth, clear, rejuvenate, stimulate, and even strengthen mental focus and concentration. How essential oils affect deeply has been proven time and again and these days, more and more people resort to oils instead of drugs, knowing that oils go beyond merely relieving a person of the symptoms of disease. They go deep into chakra levels to balance energies that overburden or under-utilize the physical body. You can use essential oils that rejuvenate and give the body a boost of energy after a long day’s exposure to the pain of fatigue. Of course, prevention is still the best cure, and there are oils for that, but for the average human, one cannot avoid exposure due to the need to earn a living or when we take on stress in any way. Essential oils hydrate, oxygenate and detoxify by boosting circulation and minimizing obstructions. They are not invasive but will penetrate the skin, rather quickly, and enter the bloodstream without hampering the natural functioning of the other organs of the human body. They only require delicate application, sometimes by mere smelling, and will still be powerful and effective especially when it comes to dealing with stress-related physical ailments. They can calm the heart while boosting circulation. They can improve and enhance digestion and liver functioning and one very interesting benefit is how oils affect the chakra and energy balance in the body. Oils have a direct connection to yoga and yoga techniques in that they help achieve what yoga wants to accomplish, via the asana and meditative practices, for energy balance in the body. Yoga and essential oils, together, will give the practitioner a myriad of physical, spiritual and mental benefits that shame the way drugs work. Oils are natural and there are increasing indications of appreciation in the use of what is natural in the body. Oils have been used for thousands of years in Yoga practicing countries, as well as in many parts of the world, for health and to bring balance in the chakra system. When mixed with coconut or olive oil, to rub the feet or the physical locations of the chakra, they’ve been known to promote mental peace and interior balance and therefore heightened spirituality. When used for meditation, these oils enhance tranquility and the practitioner of yoga is able to achieve concentration quickly and with ease.
Here are some oils that affect the mind and body.
Merely smelling these oils, using a cotton ball or tissue or directly from the container will provide great benefits. Some people use these oils as perfumes and apply wherever they wish. Lori Lines Spring cleaning isn't just for the home, it can also be done to our bodies once in a while. Detoxifying is one of the best ways to clean out the toxins and most of the time it is done to keep organs working great as well as keeping toxin levels to an all-time low. Some do it to get rid of negative vibes, some detox to lose weight, while some people do it just to be fit and healthy. Nowadays, our way of living (no matter how clean we choose to live) contributes to the level of toxins our body accumulates over time. It is only fair that we detox once in a while so we enjoy more energy and overall wellbeing - which is also good for one’s mental health. Detoxifying with essential oils is one of the most relaxing ways to do it. Knowing the right kind of oils to use will make you feel better physically, emotionally and mentally - way better than popping a pill in your mouth. The following are the kinds of oils you can use to help yourself detoxify: Juniper Oil Has a great antioxidant property. Keeps the digestive system working smoothly. Juniper oil relaxes the mind so you can sit back and chill while getting rid of pain. When it comes to its diuretic magic, it helps get rid of toxins, water weight and too much sodium in the body. Peppermint Oil Commonly used in the baths, consumed orally and applied on skin. Some choose to drink it with their detox smoothie and sometimes adding it to water works just as well. It keeps and maintains your level of concentration and helps soothe the digestive system. Frequently mixed with other oils for better results. Grapefruit Oil Though most are used to eating the fruit itself, the oil helps the body better especially when it comes to detoxifying. It is known to kill viruses in the body as well as the microbes. Like any detox oil, it also cleans the body by getting rid of all the toxins and wastes. Rosemary Oil Not only is it an amazing herb to use when cooking but its oil has amazing detox effects as well. It helps improve one’s digestion, circulation, has anti-inflammatory benefits as well diuretic properties. It is known to ward off cancer and memory loss. You can inhale the oil (by aromatherapy), use it in a bath or use it as massage oil. Orange Oil Orange isn’t just for quenching your thirst; its oil is highly beneficial as well. It helps relax muscular and nervous spasms, provides relief from inflammations and it even increases one's libido. It boosts one's immunity, gets rid of toxins by promoting urination and constipation. Lemon Oil Known to have astringent properties that lemon has been known to have, it has the ability to prevent cancer, clean the lymphatic system as well as the respiratory system. It can reduce inflammation as well. Adding the oil in baths or in detox shakes adds that zest to keep you going. Patchouli Oil This oil is known to help boost ones mood and can even improve one’s sex life. Add this oil to water or tea and even in your bath, with epsom salt, and let it soothe your mind. Hyssop Oil Its greatest benefit is for your digestive system because it sorts out the problem and it helps improve digestion. It is a great way to kick-start your detox day. By Lori Lines The sixth chakra (the third eye) is your line to creative energy, and to the kind of comprehension that transcends intellectual knowing. Its two principle functions are intuition and inspiration - access to knowledge that is not learned externally, hunches and visions beyond the reach of the five senses. The sixth is therefore the main channel for all the creative arts. Though sixth-chakra impressions are primarily pictorial, the sixth also acts in combination with the other chakras to turn concepts into worldly reality. The sixth and fifth, working together, enable you to hear original melodies and songs in addition, to details of songs remembered. When you dance with an open sixth, you are the dance - creativity in physical motion. The energy just pours through you. Since the sixth chakra is the organ of subliminal vision, the way to "see" past, present, future, and entities on the "other side" is through the third eye. When the sixth is open and balanced, clairvoyance results. Those who wish their psychic and creative abilities to expand are advised to work slowly and lovingly at opening the sixth for themselves. On the other hand, consistent failure to honor one's intuitions inevitably causes a shrinking of the sixth. Blockage of the sixth chakra can lead to an ultra-rational attitude, or, in combination with a restricted first chakra (root) to a diminished and negative self-image. Hallucinations and spiritual exhibitionism are symptoms of imbalance. Excess is personified by the "God-playing Guru, or by the kind of person who is both intensely overbearing and psychically sapping. In our culture, people routinely fog up and impair their sixth chakra envisioning by steady use of alcohol and/or processed tobacco. It's very difficult to keep in touch with your own intuition unless you remain clear and receptive in your third-eye chakra. Almost all the messages you send and receive are interpreted through the sixth. So it's of utmost importance that you develop it and protect it. Once you begin developing and protecting it, you'll be able to open up your third eye with full confidence that you won't be invaded or hurt. With respect to your general well-being it isn't necessary that you have perfect balance in the sixth chakra, or in any of the chakras. Certainly you'll want to keep advancing toward this end, but in the meantime perfection is not a prerequisite to accessing your third eye. I encourage you to utilize the powers of the sixth chakra to the best of your capacity. On that note, here are the oils that will best help you open and balance the third-eye (sixth) chakra: Single Oils include: Lavender, Rosemary, Clary Sage, Patchouli, Helichrysum. Oil blends include: White Angelica, Awaken, Dream Catcher, Transformation. Apply one drop with one drop carrier oil between the eyebrows. By Lori Lines Effects of stress, as a result of bad memories and experiences, grief and loss, are devastating. We cannot underestimate the need to let go of old baggage, old relationships, outdated belief systems, and people who have hurt us in the past. The majority of people have something that bogs them down emotionally, something that takes toll of their lives mentally and physically, and when we have not dealt with it, the consequences can lead to devastating effects. Old emotional baggage can be a result of several factors, it could be a nasty situation or a person which you encountered in life that hurt you terribly, it could be plans that you were holding onto that suddenly went awry, it could be a trauma that you faced while you were young and possibly this trauma has somehow not been released from your energy field. Perhaps you have tried many methods and none has helped. I'm here to tell you that one should not lose hope because there are many ways to release. One of the services I provide is to guide people with emotional baggage through guided meditation coupled with essential oils to help identify and release that which weighs you down from moving forward in life. Essential oils have been proven, in my healing practice, to work and eventually empower my client(s) to lead happy, more fulfilling lives. But it's a process. A very rewarding process. For my clients who value full body and full emotional wellness, a chance to deal with a problem or a belief system which keeps one stuck that might have taken its toll in one's life has been gratefully accepted and welcomed. We are all aware that there is no greater wealth than good health and most people would do anything in their capacity to ensure that they achieve optimal health. Essential oils are meant to do just that: to help us in attaining our best form by raising our vibrational frequencies. Aromatherapy (therapeutic use of essential oils) is something that has been around for many years and has been tried and found to be effective. Those who have used these products have learned of their intense power and a special kind of energy that can only be found in these kinds of oils. Therapeutic grade essential oils are extracted directly from the plant , so those who may be having thoughts of being harmed by the oil need not worry as they are suitable for human consumption. The fact that they are obtained in their natural form means that they have life force energy that can be used for certain intentions. Conventional wisdom concurs that the amount of energy contained in the oils is high enough to release all the negative energy stored in our bodies. Here's how it works on a spiritual, energetic level: Basically, everything is alive, everything is constantly changing and everything has a meaning. Our bodies are a dense culmination of Karmic energy and, therefore, each of us "vibrates" at our own frequency based on all that we have accumulated and released up to now. Therefore, certain organs in our bodies carry certain emotions through our energy systems called chakras. The way essential oils work is they seep into the emotions and can change our frequencies for the better. They are known to be transmitted directly to the part of the brain which is known as the emotional control center. This is the point where the decision on where emotions are to be stored in our bodies are made. This may seem like a very complex process but understanding it is easy especially when this has been part of life experiences. When it comes to the application of the essential oils, you need to do it in the recommended way which ensures that you achieve the desired result. Be sure to follow the instructions and be assured you are on a journey to achieve full and balanced positive energy. When done in the right way, under the right regime you are assured that the feelings will be awakened, you will feel those feelings as you release them, and then you can be left with a feeling of courage, excitement, well-being and even joy. It is also important to make sure you inhale by diffusing the essential oils appropriate for release, allowing the therapeutic aroma to massage your inner spirit. It is important to stay aware and allow your emotions to surface without attempting to distract yourself from them, to stay present with them - because the more you do this the quicker you will release negativity. Otherwise, this process will draw out very long and you may be discouraged to continue on. Note that this one process will not be wiping your slate completely clean, but will be making yourself ready to start afresh, once again, by clearing the way for new and better to come into your life. If you have been carrying old baggage, it is high time you let it go, they will continue weighing you down unless you do something about it. Most clients say it is so refreshing to let the dead weight off their shoulders. Essential oils have been tried and tested and found to be very effective along these lines as you will not only feel energized but also feel like a part of some huge load that has been weighing you down has been lifted. There is so much joy in doing this as the quality of your life will be truly enhanced. Applying essential oils for release will help you open the inner self as you will feel traumatic and negative past experiences melting right away. When this happens your inner voice will slowly come back, giving you the energy that has been hidden inside and, based on my own experiences with essential oils, it is an experience that has positively changed my life for the better. The sweet fragrance will stimulate your memories helping in reconnecting with authentic self. Once you have managed to open the true self , you will have successfully completed an important step in finding the emotional balance that perhaps has been so evasive. What oils are best to use for release? Young Living Essential Oils offers several - however, it needs to be said that this is a very simplistic guideline for "letting go," releasing, and allowing the uplifting feeling of peace and emotional freedom to root into your psyche. Emotional health is a precious gift to our well-being because without it we are simply not living a life of fulfillment.

By Lori Lines The fifth chakra is centered in the hollow of your throat and it is your means of communicating with and ministering to the outside world. The functioning of most upper organs - eyes, brain, ears, mouth, nose, thyroid gland, bronchial tubes - is regulated by this chakra. When the throat chakra is healthy in size, unobstructed and working well, all your senses are sharp. Your sincerity is obvious to those around you. You say exactly what you mean, and what you say is well-received. Your phrasing and tone are such that people are seldom put off or threatened or hurt by your words. You don't subvert your own intention in order to be polite, but neither do you inflict careless verbal injury. Clairaudience, the intuitive aptitude for hearing astral voices and music is the psychic power that arises from the unencumbered activity of the throat chakra. On the contrary, if you ignore what your senses take in, if you are apt to feel mortified over what you just said, if you have trouble asserting yourself verbally and articulating what you mean, if there's a big discrepancy between what you say and what you do, or if you tend to indulge in rumor, innuendo, or idle chit chat, it's the fifth chakra that needs attention. Another common pattern of fifth-chakra misuse is that of the authoritarian who is rigid of opinion, stiff-necked, and tight-lipped in order to control the output of the mouth. As you work on restoring balance, strength and resilience to the fifth chakra, it helps enormously to suspend critical judgments and glimpse the spark of Divinity in each person and in each facet of nature. This includes letting go of prejudices and vengeful schemes and refraining from loose, manipulative talk. In most cases, your fifth closes down because you won't speak up. You don't trust the world with what you have to express, and you don't trust yourself to go ahead and say it. If such is the situation, strengthen your fifth by finding new outlets for your expressive energy. Let the radiance of your heart rise up and penetrate your throat. Or try humming so that the sound resonates throughout your neck. Sound is the key to opening the fifth chakra. Singing your children to sleep, chanting in a circle, and singing aloud are positive expressions of the primal scream. When your fifth is an open conduit, your speaking voice is clear and bell-like, without insinuating overtones. It conveys an appealing richness, and if you're musically inclined your abilities are vastly sharpened. Like the first and fourth chakras, the second and fifth are paired up - more noticeably so in women and children. Owing to a fear of rejection, you may restrain yourself from speaking freely. In an effort to win acceptance, you may be heedlessly verbose and given to wild statements. Considering that the fifth chakra channels directly to every sense but touch, one of its main purposes is to keep you involved in the sensory world. Meanwhile, your emotional life and sense of touch are nourished by the second chakra. In general, numbness is a two-level weakness that affects both the second and the fifth. When people shut off their hearing, fog their vision, or develop speech problems, it's often because they're allowing a pattern of emotional deadening to ride up from the sacral center to the throat center. The third chakra also pairs with the fifth, particularly in men. When a man's self-worth is inadequate, he lacks the "guts" to speak his mind. People who charge into a room or throw their weight around conversationally are showing third-fifth excess. Verbal battering is an extreme version of this. The fifth pairs, in turn, with the seventh (crown chakra). In fact, good functioning of the fifth is crucial to the opening of the seventh. It's the first step on the path to clarity: the capacity to see through your pretensions, ambitions, errors and miseries by means of regular self-examination. With clarity, you have the advantage of common sense, whether or not you happen to be talented in other ways. You don't waste your energy on mythical monsters in the closet of your own making. Unfortunately, the fifth can also be the center from which you spin worry, which is the opposite of clarity. Worry stems from deluded sense perceptions, fed by second-chakra insecurity. Most worries dissolve in the light of self-knowledge and self-acceptance, aided by the self-assurance that results from the day-to-day discipline of working toward these goals. When you find yourself worrying about someone else, look to see what aspect of yourself might be at the root of your anxiety. If you are agitated within, it's next to impossible to receive a precise reading of any message from your intuition or even the best psychic. Even straight, loud, talking can't get through to your conscious mind. The clarity of an open fifth chakra is what gives you an ear for inner wisdom and understanding. If you find, after reading the above, that you have fifth chakra issues, these are the essential oils that help open and raise the vibrations of the throat. Single oils include: Roman Chamomile, Tea Tree, Lemon, Lavender, Patchouli, Hyssop. Oil Blends include: Hope, Valor, Envision, and Believe. It is recommended you apply 2 drops of one of these oils, along with a carrier oil, to the throat area. Just a single drop is powerful enough to stop a cold, soothe a burn, or relieve an itchy bug bite. Many people assume that essential oils are harmless since they are obtained from plants, but this is not always true. If not used properly, essential oils have the potential to cause minor reactions, such as skin irritation, or even more serious consequences like respiratory failure. It is very important that you use the oils according to the instruction label on the bottle or through research on the Young Living Essential Oils website. The use of adulterated or expired essential oils may also have adverse effects. That’s why you should only purchase your essential oils from a trusted source like Young Living. Young Living oils do not expire because they are unadulterated. The company formulates essential oil-based wellness solutions that help to energize your life, empower you to dodge harmful chemicals, ditch negativity and stress, and reclaim your natural radiance by introducing higher vibrational frequencies when applied or ingested. The Safe Use of Essential Oils When used properly, essential oils are highly beneficial and quite safe. However, because the uses of essential oils are still relatively unknown, many people can and do hurt themselves by using them improperly. Safety and Toxicology
Though essential oils are not supposed to be used internally, there are two exceptions to this rule. The first exception is biocompatible levels of essential oil ingestion when taken as part of the diet. The second is when a licensed physician properly administers dosages of essential oil for medication purposes. This is now occurring in some European clinics. When someone ingests essential oils accidentally, do not give water if swallowing or breathing is difficult. Secondly, do not induce vomiting and immediately seek for help from medical experts, especially from Poison Control Center. Again, there are two exceptions to the rule that essential oils are not supposed to be applied directly to the skin but should always be diluted with carrier oil. The first exception is the careful use of mild essential oils that have a well documented history of safety such as lavender. However, even these mild essential oils can be problematic for some people. The second exception is the use of attars as natural perfumes. As a general rule, NEVER apply more than two drops of undiluted oil to the skin. It is also advisable that before you apply essential oils onto a large area of your skin, you can first test on a small area. Storage of essential oils The way that you look after your oils affects their shelf life. Essential oils generally have a shelf life of one to three years. Oxidized and old oils are known to cause reactions, especially rashes. Some essential oils such as patchouli oil, vetiver oil, and sandalwood oil get better with age. Some like citrus oils are most prone to degradation, and should be used within one year. Correct storage is most definitely the key to getting the most out of your oils. Both vegetable and essential oils do not like repeated changes in temperature or extreme temperatures. The basics Essential oils should be packaged in dark-colored glass. Dark amber has always been the color of choice in glass bottles until quite recently that dark shades of violet, green and blue have become more popular. The color doesn’t matter much, what matters is that you should never leave essential oils at a place where the sun will shine directly on them. Choose a cool, dark place to keep them safely away from heat and also from children. Cool them off Some essential oils such as citrus essential oils are prone to oxidation, so you could store them in the refrigerator to avoid the damage caused by temperature variations. Massage oils and carrier oils will also benefit by being stored in this way. However, do not have the refrigerator setting too cold. It should be remembered that essential oils do not like extreme temperatures, so a temperature balance of 50 to 80 degrees fahrenheit should be good. By Lori Lines Essential Oils are very potent, especially the high-end Therapeutic grade oils that you see in Young Living products. The first thing you need to know prior to exploring the use of these oils is to know that you should begin slowly. Why? Because not everyone is chemically created equally. For example, I have very sensitive skin and there are some oils that just do not resonate with me, personally. Always skin test an essential oil before using it. Each person's body is different, so you will want to apply oils to a small area first. It's important to apply only one oil or blend at a time. When layering oils that are new to you, allow enough time (3-5 minutes) for the body to respond before applying a second oil. If you suspect you are carrying residue from cosmetics, personal-care products, soaps, and cleansers containing synthetic chemicals, it is imperative that you use caution when applying these oils. Essential oils can work against such chemicals and toxins built up in the body from chemicals in food, water, and work environment. If you have this kind of experience using essential oils, it may be wise to reduce or stop using them for a few days and begin an internal cleansing or detoxification program before you resume regular use of these oils. It is also suggested you double your water intake during this time and keep flushing the toxins out of your body. There are also alternatives to a detox program to determine the cause of the problem according to Young Living Essential Oils:
Also, if you choose to drop a few drops of essential oils in your water or whatever you happen to be drinking, make sure you are not using a plastic or styrofoam cup. Most oils will eat away at the container when left sitting in them too long and you will have a mess on your hands. There are oils that Young Living produce that are considered "hot." These are Oregano, Cinnamon, Thyme, Eucalyptus, Mountain Savory, Lemon, and Orange essential oils or blends such as Thieves, PanAway, Relieve It, and Exodus II out of reach of children. These types of oils should ALWAYS be diluted for both children and adults. If there are children in the home, they will need to be taught how to use the oils so that they understand how to use them safely. If a child or infant swallows an essential oil, do the following:
By Lori Lines The heart chakra is the gateway between the lower and higher chakras. It is centered near the xiphoid process, the piece of cartilage at the base of the breastbone. The bodily functions associated with the fourth chakra are the pumping of the heart and the act of breathing. Breathing comprises both the respiration of air and the circulation of essential life force energy - also known as prana, chi, or ruach (the Hebrew word translated biblically as "the Spirit of God." or simply "the Spirit). Your fourth chakra has to do with the quality and extent of your joys and sorrows and the compassion you feel for your fellow beings. When your heart chakra is open and of adequate size, you're able to laugh and cry, sometimes simultaneously. Deep laughter and deep crying are both expressions of compassion. The fourth also shapes your capacity to express and accept personal love, to demonstrate loving energy toward others and attract the same from them. With an open fourth, you appreciate life. You are able to experience oneness with the entirety of life, and you approach other people within the attitude that we're all equally fit for our individual purpose. You also have access to profound serenity, no matter what's going on outside yourself. Blockage or constriction of the heart chakra causes tension throughout the whole body. Breathing gets shallow, as do the emotions. Signs of fourth chakra trouble include a judgmental, know-it-all attitude, undependability, and a capacity for conditional love only. We draw in love energy through the upper middle back, between the fourth and sixth thoracic vertebrae. Having received this energy, we then mix it with our personal energy and radiate it, through the larger fourth-chakra opening in front, out to the world around us - plants, animals and human beings. Shoulder pains on the right side, in back, indicate difficulty with accepting love; on the left, difficulty with giving love, or an emotional separation that has inflicted a deep wound. If the shoulder trouble is to the front, the situation is reversed: left-side aches or injuries indicate difficulty with receiving, and the right-side problems denote difficulty with giving. Right-side problems may also point to a competitive nature that is being exercised incorrectly or excessively. The thymus gland, key to the body's immune system, reflects the openness or the closed-off manner with which we meet the world on a fourth chakra level. The thymus is pivotal in warding off cancer and in recovering from this disease. Denying yourself the treats and joys of life and being stingy with others are two kinds of behavior that cause intense damage to the fourth chakra. Heart ailments represent an imbalance of some sort between the fourth and the first, through which we draw in the bounty of the world. When we habitually hoard this bounty - be it emotional, spiritual, or material - instead of sharing it, we create a structure which inclines us to heart attacks, though what constitutes too much wealth is different for different people. The first and fourth chakras are paired for good or ill. The capacity to be generous without giving up all that you have reveals a successful pairing, a balance between the inflow of your first and the outflow of your fourth. We're meant to draw abundance through the root chakra and send it out through the heart chakra. The Universe is good to us, and so should that flow out from us to others. Not all heart ailments are brought on by a lack of generosity. Children can develop heart problems because of feeling unloved by their families. Children are psychically and emotionally corded to one or both parents until late adolescence or early adulthood. The connection ensures their survival. When the cord is damaged or prematurely severed, this can precipitate a degenerative condition in the physical heart as well as an unloving behavioral pattern. Once a negative fourth-chakra condition sets in, it nags at the person throughout life, arising again in each new stress situation which calls for a lot of heart-related energy. Lies and half-truths also injure the fourth chakra, and especially the lungs. This is so whether you tell the lie yourself or accept it without challenge from someone else. The less lying you involve yourself in, the more your forth opens, allowing you to be that much more truthful and compassionate. This is what I believe Jesus meant when he said, "the truth shall set you free." Asking for and providing the truth frees up the heart region and feels wonderful. You cherish yourself. You feel free to be a lover of all that is, especially with special people in your life. When the heart chakra is imbedded and untruth is lodged within it, we fear exposure and betrayal, this is the result of a false or pretentious self-image having ridden up from the first chakra, and it becomes very hard to generate feelings of love and intimacy. If you have a backlog of dishonesty, gradually relieve yourself of it by setting things straight with the people in your life. There really is no hiding. So, you have to be prepared to be open, at least to the extent of semi-conditional love. Semi-conditional love describes a relationship in which each of you goes on loving the other, though every so often one of you incurs the other's disapproval or displeasure. Meanwhile, the Universe tries to steer you toward unconditional love, which trusts in each person's ultimate enlightenment and knows that missteps and catastrophic detours are natural occurrences as one travels one's true path. Here are essential oils that may be helpful in supporting your Heart Chakra (4th) in bringing you the highest vibrational frequency to this area of your life. Single oils are: Rose, Geranium, Cedarwood, Jasmine, and Ylang Ylang.. Oil Blends are: Acceptance, Humility, Joy. Apply to the chest area over the heart. By Lori Lines The third chakra is the formative center of your personal power as a member of a social group, as well as the center of your capacity for getting along with the various others in this group. Also called the solar plexus, the third chakra is focused two to three inches above your navel. When your third is well-developed and unimpeded, you have plenty of physical stamina and resilience, plenty of self-control and self-respect. In general, you're able to channel energy into doing what you want, when you want. You're also unafraid to meditate, and the practice of meditation comes to you easily. A negatively functioning third chakra produces indecisiveness and a sense of inadequacy, including the anxiety that people are out to take advantage of you. As compensation, you may become over-competitive, or you may suffer from possessive jealousy in regard to friends and lovers. Some people have a excess of third-chakra energy which they abuse by trying to control others. The liver, which holds anger, the gall bladder, which has to do with decision-making abilities, and the stomach, which relates to the digestion of experience, are the organs whose proper functioning depends upon a well-regulated thrid chakra. Gallstones manifest a chronic denial of one's own best interest in order to please or placate another. Stomach problems indicate an inability to assimilate new ideas and beliefs, based on the fear that personal change will entail a loss of power. A well-toned muscle structure is also an indicator of the third chakra's health, and so is the blood, in terms of balanced cellular composition. When one's power center is functioning properly, the output of the adrenals produces no "rush" or undue stress. With an open, active third chakra you enjoy self-respect. You value your own opinions without having to ram them down anyone else's throat. In social situations of your own choosing, you don't feel left out; you're able to participate fully without feeling impelled to kowtow or to dominate. As an outgrowth of this, you radiate respect for other people. We have inherited a mainstream of governmental tradition according to which a leader dictates the plan and the rest of the community follows suit. Nonetheless, excellence of leadership consists in somehow coordinating everyone's strengths, skills and ideas so that all benefit, materially and spiritually. The true leader is able to steer each person into activity that contributes to his or her inner growth as well as the social good, thus creating real satisfaction. And loyalty. Loyalty is a function of a healthy third chakra. Blind obedience signals its negative functioning. The same truth extends to your efforts at directing yourself. To win your own respect, you learn to manage and monitor your enthusiasms without being tricky or repressive. You get yourself into activities which exercise your talents and give you the pleasure of fulfillment. Meanwhile the strong points of others don't threaten you or make you jealous. In fact, you're able to observe those who have skills you wish to emulate and then start to practice them on your own. To work on your third chakra, begin by concentrating on your sense of self-worth. Self-worth gives rise to a sound and judicious use of personal power. The first, second, and third chakras are most often referred to as the lower chakras. They form the foundation of physical and emotional well-being - or the rickety underpinnings of illness, difficulty, and want. Since etiquette tells us to keep our lower bodies quite still, the vitality of our lower chakras and organs is apt to be inhibited, if not impaired. We're also likely to be ungrounded and easily upset. A good system of meditation promotes grounding. It serves to open and strengthen each chakra equally. You don't raise your awareness and achieve personal balance by neglecting or over-emphasizing any aspect of your being. In a balanced individual all seven major chakras are equal in size. People who concentrate exclusively on their higher development - who meditate for hours on their upper chakras and force themselves to eat ethereal diets when not fasting completely - are effectively discarding their God-given ability to keep their life together on a material plane. This is foolish and unnecessary. You might have an extraordinary talent with some single chakra. You might wish to focus on one or two chakras that need work. But remember, only when all your centers are open and functioning in unison will you be traveling your true life path. Here are essential oils that may be helpful in supporting your third Chakra (Solar Plexus). Single oils are: Juniper, Basil, Lavender, Bergamot, Geranium, Ginger and Lemongrass. Blended oils are: Harmony, Sacred Mountain, Acceptance and Release. Apply with a carrier oil between the navel and rib cage. By Lori Lines Did you know that most oils that are labeled as “100 percent pure” may not be pure after all? Most people think that when they buy oil that’s labeled this way, they are getting pure oil. What they don’t know is that companies are allowed to label their oil as “100 percent pure” as long as it contains at least 5 percent of the actual oil. What this means is that the bottle you get from apothecary shops or even from your health food store labeled “100 percent pure” means nothing! Beware, not all so called pure oils are pure. On these same bottles you’ll see a warning against topical application and/or oral ingestion. Such a warning is a clear indication that these oils are not pure. Most of the essential oils on the market are what is called “fourth and fifth quality”, “aroma therapy” or “perfume” oils. This includes oils found in aroma therapy and in health food shops. Today, it seems like companies are popping up all over place claiming to be manufacturing pure oils, but nothing could be further from the truth. The standards set for producing pure oils are very high for most companies to attain. Very few companies produce high quality essential oils. Producing pure oils in not an easy process - it begins right from the growing of the seed, through to harvesting, formulating, producing, and to packaging. Unless a company takes care in every single one of these steps there is absolutely no way that the company can claim to be producing pure oils. And any mishap in this process may lead to the production of adulterated oil. Mislabeled essential oils and adulterated essential oils may be dangerous to consumers. Most manufacturers do not indicate the true content of their product on the labels. That’s why most of the so-called “lavender” oil sold through online aromatherapy shops or in health food stores and in grocery stores turn out to be lavandin. Lavandin contains high levels of camphor (up to 18 percent) and will burn the skin. It is hybrid lavender that is chemically very different from lavandula angustifolia (pure lavender). True lavender contains virtually no camphor and has many benefits. Another example of adulterated oil is frankincense. The essential oil requires 12 hours to be steam distilled from the resin and is very expensive. But the frankincense resin that is sold in countries like Somalia costs between $30,000 and $35,000 per ton. Frankincense oil that is sold for $25.00 per ounce or less must have been distilled with alcohol or other solvents, which make their quality of the product questionable. As a rule, cheap oils have low prices. To maintain all of the beneficial qualities, frankincense oil must be extracted by steam distillation using low heat and extremely low pressure so as not to defile the quality of the oil. When these cut, adulterated and synthetic oils cause burns, rashes or other irritations, those using these oils may wonder why they don’t get the benefit they were expecting and conclude that these essential oils don’t have much value. Most manufacturers cut adulterated oils with synthetic chemicals rendering them harmful. At times they cause skin irritations, burning, rashes and more. This explains why the warnings against their oral ingestion or topical application are stated on the bottle. Other companies also use petrochemical solvents that are devoid of any beneficial effects and can cause allergic reactions. From 1967 to 1998, the demand for true lavender oil grew over 100 times while its production dropped from 87 tons to only 12 tons in France. So, to meet this huge demand, essential oil marketers use a combination of adulterated and synthetic oils. Most of the lavender oil sold in America is lavendin, which is grown and distilled in Tasmania, France, Russia or China. The oil production in these locations tests high in radioactive isotopes. The lavendin grown in these countries are brought to France where they cut it with synthetic linolyl acetate to improve the fragrance. They then add DOP, DEP, SD 40 or propylene glycol, which are solvents that increase the volume and have no smell, then sell it in the United States as lavender oil. Most people in America don’t know the difference and are happy to buy and sell in beauty salons, health food stores, department stores and grocery and through mail order. A wide variety of essential oils are safe to apply neat topically and administer orally without harm to the human organism. But that’s only true when an authentically pure essential oil is used. There are 4 grades or levels of essential oils: Pure, Natural, Complete, and Grade A or Genuine or "Therapeutic". Pure essential oils are those that have not been diluted with any lesser quality essential oil. But as has been stated earlier the word “pure” on the label does not necessarily mean that the oil has no additives. That why you need to know the vendors of pure oils so you can purchase from them armed with knowledge of their grades. Natural essential oils are those which have not been adulterated with SD Alcohol 40, propylene glycol, vegetable oils or other chemicals. Complete essential oils are those distilled at low pressure and low heat so that all the beneficial properties are maintained. They have not been purified or rectified (which means redistilled or stripped). Many companies often redistill essential oils to make a small amount of oil go farther. They make more profit that way but in the process end up with low quality products. Furthermore, when the oil is redistilled the beneficial properties are lost. It’s like using a tea bag over and over again. Grade A or Genuine essential oils are the best oils. They are the cream of the crop. Young Living Essential Oils takes great care in very step of producing these oils. They ensure that the soils used to plant the seeds are organic with no chemicals added. The seeds used are not hybrid and no chemicals are used on the plants in the field. The company distills by steam at low temperature and low pressure in upright containers and no chemicals are ever used in the process. The distillation process is also timed to ensure that the distillate is of the highest quality. They understand that distillation determines the value of the oil, and that distillation is an art and not just a job. Poor distillation process can destroy the value of the oil. They use only the best species of the plants. The operator of the distiller must have a full understanding of the value of oils in order to produce quality oils. If the temperature is too high or the pressure is too high, it may change the chemical composition of the fragrance molecule by altering its constituents’ chemistry. For example, distillation of lavender should not exceed 245 degrees of temperature, and should not exceed 3 pounds of pressure. The distillation process should take 2 hours. Distillers who are only interested in profits will distill lavender at very high temperature and very high pressure for only 15 minutes. That’s why it is emphasized that before you purchase any oil, try to find out about integrity of the company and vendors. © Lori Lines, All Rights Reserved. _By Lori Lines The sacral center, also known as the second chakra, is located about 2 inches below your navel and is the focus of your earliest and most fundamental emotions. Your basic sense of acceptance or rejection, worthiness or unworthiness; your sense of belonging to a group or family or of being alone in the world; your ease or trouble in connecting with your Higher Power; all of these relate to how well your second chakra is working. Furthermore, through the spleen, the second chakra acts as a pumping mechanism for the physical energy the first chakra pulls in from the root, and for the emotional energy to which it has access. This Chakra is associated with the Adrenals and controls all solid parts - the spinal column, bones, teeth, nails; also controls blood and building of the cells, kidneys, and the bladder. A healthy second chakra is a sign of emotional integrity and security, healthy sexuality and creativity. We are optimistic, friendly, courageous, and sensitive to others' needs. We feel that we belong, and yet we are not afraid of being taken over when we merge with someone else. If you have a difficult, unsatisfactory social life and have difficulty getting in touch with your own true feelings; if you're distressingly over-sensitive, or chronically bad-tempered and resentful, or prone to burying your emotions for months and then erupting with them; if you're often laid low by parental or religious guilt ("Watchdogs" of morality, low on love because of a contracted second chakra, jump on other people who are exploring and enjoying the variety of life. Their efforts feed right in to the guilt of dysfunction), or immobilized by fears of injury, disapproval, isolation or spirit possession, it is the second chakra that needs attention. An out-of-balance second sets off power-mongering in the third chakra and survival fears in the first chakra. Its health is therefore pivotal in the physical realm. The kidneys, which absorb and detoxify fear, and the spleen, which contains and processes worry, are both indicators of the second chakra's condition. So is the skin. Skin should be elastic -not puffy, or dry and scaly. In the same way, the boundaries of your emotional life should be resilient, neither bloated nor cracked and shrunken, so that you can make the changes required of you from day to day and year to year. When the second chakra is fully functioning and discriminating, clairsentience (becoming one with another person) provides information that is presently useful and also prophetic. We need to recognize and respect the emotions that move through the second chakra. It is also essential that we distinguish between our own feelings and those we pick up from others - repeatedly through close association, or haphazardly on the street or in a store. For those who are aware of becoming more sensitive to the energies around you, be extra perceptive at parties, meetings, and mass gatherings. When necessary, be extra protective, so that you do not get drawn into an atmosphere of fear, depression, hysteria or violence. *I need to note here that there is very little danger in picking up positive vibrations, feelings which elevate you. At the same time, if you have the gift of clairsentience, you must learn good grounding to compensate for explorations into the consciousness of other people and other beings. Failure to deal with the entire range of emotional demands and to support their integrity invites paranoia and high blood pressure. Pancreatic ailments also reflect an undernourished second chakra. diabetes begins as fear of emotional neglect, escalating into fear of total abandonment, and may be handed on from parent to child when their energy fields intermingle. At the opposite end of the emotional spectrum from fear is trust. Although trust relates to our dealings with others, it originates within ourselves as a sense of security and personal validity. I always say to my clients, "Don't worry about being able to trust others. Learn first to trust yourself: the desires that are heartfelt, the thoughts and actions that fulfill you, the responses that are emotionally satisfying." If the issues described above are plaguing you, here are essential oils that may be helpful in supporting your second chakra: Single oils: Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage, Rose, Rosemary, Patchouli, and Jasmine. Oil blends: Peace and Calming, Inner Child, Harmony, Forgiveness. Apply any or several of these oils (use your intuition as to which you are most drawn and apply slightly below the navel). By Lori Lines Chakras are rotating, cone shaped rays of energy, most of them centered along the body's vertical axis. Though non-material, they can be felt either pulsing and pumping, or knotting and aching. They govern the physical functioning of your body, which is itself a configuration of swirling bits of highly energized matter. You mold and re-mold this matter into your self-image, based on your belief system of how you ought to appear. You create your own image, combining your self-perceptions with the information that other people feed you about yourself. Your chakras affect this process and are affected by it. There are seven principle chakras (also called energy centers) focused at least partly within the physical body. In addition, there are important chakras in the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. The chakra system is so complex that I am unable to cover the entire subject of chakras but this article is intended to educate on their meanings and, in subsequent posts, I will cover more. The first chakra, also referred to as the root chakra or kundalini center, is the only major chakra whose larger opening is to the rear, just below the tailbone and above the anus. There is a smaller opening in front, at the base of the pubic bone. This chakra has to do with the ability to survive, your capacity to have and hold, and your power to attract the abundance of the material realm into your life. When it's functioning properly you feel well, have great vitality, are comfortably grounded in your body, and are affectionate with the people close to you. If your physical self is chronically beset with aches and pains, if you don't get enough to eat, if your bills keep mounting with no way to pay them, if you're over-impulsive or always a little bit off center, if you are liable to fits of cruelty or self-centered lust, if you experience anxiety, fears, or nightmares, then you're suffering from typical problems that originate with (and reflect upon) an impeded first chakra. Other first chakra imbalances can include problems with the colon, with the bladder, with elimination, or with lower back, leg or feet issues. In men, prostate problems may occur. In women, issues surrounding reproductive organs can arise. Eating disorders may also be a sign of a root chakra imbalance. Even if you have an external or impersonal affliction such as an excessive bill that comes to you as a surprise can be an indication that your first chakra is impeded or has been somehow obstructed. When your first Chakra is open, even if you have, for example, a high bill to pay, you will receive some kind of windfall or a timely pay raise or bonus that will balance out the added burden. Materialistic greed represents a first chakra that takes everything in but shares nothing and lets nothing go. Addiction to wealth coordinates with material envy which is a reflection of the darkest values of our culture. Someone with a balanced first chakra is materially confident and therefore, generous. Although the first chakra has to do with survival, it also interrelates with your self-image or with the image that you consistently fail to live up to. Family scripts, traditional life attitudes, and other deep-seated beliefs and cues are implanted in our consciousness by way of the first chakra. Also, any dogma is an attack on the first chakra. Dogmatic preachers, parents and presiding authorities can get to your first chakra and send it wobbling and out of balance. This can even lead you toward surrendering your own self-governance. Some of the ways you can help feel more balanced in your first chakra is to use Essential Oils on your own before you go see an energetic healer. I recommend doing whatever you can to self-heal first before employing an energetic healer. To help support and balance your first chakra, I recommend you use either of these single oils: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Ginger or Cypress. Oil Blends would include any of the following: Valor, Grounding, and Abundance. For Root Chakra purposes, I recommend you apply one drop of any of these oils to the bottom of your feet and on your spine twice a day. It is recommended you use your essential oils topically with a carrier oil in case your skin is sensitive. What are Carrier Oils and Why is it Important to Use them in Tandem with Some Essential Oils?11/9/2015 By Lori Lines
Carrier oils are vegetable oils derived from fatty portions of plants, usually from nuts, kernels, or the seeds. The term carrier oil is derived from their purpose in carrying the essential oil onto the skin. They are used to dilute essential and other oils prior to topical application. This is because absolutes, CO2s, essential oils and other aromatics when applied to the skin undiluted can cause severe reactions or irritation in some individuals. Each carrier oil has different combination of therapeutic characters and properties. So the therapeutic benefit you seek is what determines the choice of particular carrier oil. Lip balms, body oils, natural lotions, bath oils, creams, and other moisturizing skin care products are also made using carrier (vegetable) oils. From a more complex natural lotion to a simple carrier oil/essential oil blend, the choice of carrier oil can make a difference in the overall aroma, therapeutic properties, shelf life, and color of the final product. Carrier Oils vs. Essential Oils Carrier oils are pressed from the fatty portions of plants (kernels, nuts, seeds) and do not impart their aroma as strongly as essential oils. They also do not evaporate. Essential oils, on the other hand, are distilled from the roots, bark, leaves and other aromatic portions of a botanical. Another notable difference is that essential oils don’t go rancid over time but carrier oils do. However, Essential oils "oxidize" and lose their therapeutic benefits over time. Base Oils /Fixed Oils/Vegetable Oils In normal skin care, carrier oils are usually referred to as base oils, fixed oils or vegetable oils. The term carrier oil is generally limited to use within the aromatherapy practice. Not all base oils or fixed oils are vegetable oils. Marine (fish) and Emu oils are also classified as base/fixed oils, but animal-based oils are typically not used in aromatherapy. The Aroma of Carrier Oils Generally speaking, most carrier oils have a nutty, faintly sweet aroma, but a few are odorless. If a carrier oils has a strong, bitter aroma it may have gone rancid. If possible, compare the aroma of the oil that you suspect has gone rancid with the same botanical oil that you know is fresh. Difference in smell will help you know whether your oil has gone rancid. Method of extraction, tocopherols, and the level of natural fatty acids plus other characteristics of oil all can affect how quickly it becomes rancid. Carrier oils that you purchase should be unadulterated and natural. If you can’t get the unadulterated and natural oil then you can buy carrier oils that have natural Vitamin E added. They are also good for the well-being of your skin because Vitamin E acts as a natural preservative and is therefore often listed as tocopherols. Shopping For Carrier Oils Most typical vegetable oils sold in grocery stores are not cold-pressed but are processed using heat. Strive to shop with suppliers and retailers that specialize in the sale of natural skin care or aromatherapy ingredients. To avoid rashes forming on your skin, ensure you buy fresh oils from a reputable company like Young Living Essential Oils. Any dust on the storage bottle may indicate the oil has been sitting around for awhile. Go for oils with no additives and those that are not blends of four or more oils. Also consider:
Which Carrier Oils to Use with Essential Oils Whenever you’re applying essential oils to your skin, you’ll need a base oil to serve as “carrier oil”. The best carrier oils to consider include: Organic and Unrefined Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond oil, Apricot Kernel oil, Sunflower oil, Arnica oil, Olive oil, Avocado oil, Calendula oil, Canola oil, Castor oil, Corn oil, Wheatgerm oil, St. John’s Wort oil, Safflower oil, Sweet Almond oil, Vitamin E oil, Walnut oil, and Soy oil, etc. Storage of Carrier Oils Carrier oils that are supposed to be kept for a long duration and those that are fragile should be stored in a cool, dark location in dark glass bottles with tight fitting tops. Cobalt Boston or Amber bottles are ideal. However, if you plan to use the oil before its lifespan, there’s no need to transfer them into dark bottles. Carrier oils can be stored in plastic but essential oils must always be stored in glass bottles because they can dissolve plastic. By Lori Lines Looking for an effective way to relieve any stress, depression or anxiety? Then hear this! Certain essential oils have proven to be successful in relieving the aforementioned and all you have to do is either inhale the oil’s scent or massage it into the skin with a blend of them. It has been proven that after prolonged use of these essential oils, you will experience reduced anxiety and improved mood and this is usually over a six month period appropriate application. A study that was conducted by scientists state that as soon as you apply your selected essential oil, its healing compounds are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream in not more than five minutes thus relieving you of your stress or anxiety. They reason they absorb so quickly is because essential oils are known to contain a highly active concentration of plant essences. When you choose to inhale instead of applying to the skin, the cells present in your nose receive the essential oils molecules and afterwards, signals are sent to a part of the brain called the limbic system. This part of the brain is known to rule your emotions and this confirms why smelling certain essential oils triggers feelings of joy, peace, excitement or contentment. Apart from your emotions being triggered, be informed that your limbic system is connected directly to other parts of your brain that are known to control the following
Bergamot This essential oil is a powerful mood booster that is known to effectively alter depression. Its scientific name is Citrus aurantium (L) var bergamia and since the citrus family is known for its uplifting effects, bergamot has been acknowledged to be particularly powerful. When infused with lavender and frankincense together with sweet almond oil and massaged on your hands one day for an entire week, depression levels are known to significantly reduce and little to no pain is felt. Where anxiety is concerned, a study was made where individuals exposed to highly stressful situations inhaled bergamot as their method of administration and it was found that a ten minute long weekly inhalation reduced autonomic nervous activity to a balanced state. In addition to that, significant reduction of heart rate and blood pressure was also recorded. Clary sage In the event that you would want to experience feelings of calmness, clarity and contentment, this should be the essential oil of your choosing. It is an essential oil known for clearing those dark clouds that are, at times, present in your mood and in addition to that, it’s euphoric and uplifting. You can choose to add it to your bath for a more blissful and relaxing soak or you can diffuse it before bed. Lavender This purple flower helps in promoting a healthy and peaceful mood, which is why it is regarded as the purple flower of peace. It smells divine and is also known for its other practical uses such as sleep control and pest control. Studies show that patients with mild to moderate depression showed improvement after they received about sixty drops of lavender tincture every day. This proved that lavender oil can be used as an effective substitute where other potentially and common addictive psychoactive drugs used for anxiety are concerned. Depression, stress and anxiety are serious mood disorders so please do not face this struggle alone by trying any of the above mentioned essential oils for at least six weeks in addition to consulting a qualified professional.
